Tıp bilim mi sanat mı?

Abstract

Bazı disiplinlerde daha fazla olmak üzere birçok alanın bilim mi sanat mı olduğuna dair tartışmalar vardır. Tıbbın hem teorik hem de uygulama tarafının bulunması, uygulama kısmında deney, gözlem ve bilimsel kanıtların yanında sezgi gücünün ve el becerisinin de işin içinde olması tıpta da bilim-sanat tartışmasının zemininin olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı tıbbın sanat mı yoksa bilim mi olduğuna dair bir tartışma yapmaktır. Yöntem olarak şimdiye kadar yapılmış yayınlar ve tartışmalar taranmış, bu ikincil bilgi kaynaklarından çıkarsamalar yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Tarihsel arka planına bakıldığında tıbbın hem sanat tarafının hem de bilim tarafının bulunduğuna dair süreçlerin olduğu görülmektedir. Bir işin sanat olmasıyla daha çok kendi merakı ve uygulama ile beslenerek gelişen mahareti, bir ustanın yanında ustalaşması ve sonuçta da insanların sağlığına kavuşmasında ortaya koyacağı isabetli tedavi yöntemleri öne çıkmaktadır. Bilim olmasıyla ilgili de, gözlem ve deneylere dayalı ortaya çıkan yaklaşımların, bilimsel süreçlerden geçmiş ilaçların, tıp teknolojisinin ve kanıta dayalı yöntemlerin yine kişilerin sağlıklarına kavuşmasında kullanılması akla gelmektedir. Tıbbın hayatın bütününü kuşatan yönü ve farklı tarafları bulunduğu düşünüldüğünde, çalışmadan da çıkan bir sonuç olarak hem sanat yönünün hem de bilim yönünün bulunduğu, bu iki tarafın birbirini tamamlamasıyla daha nitelikli bir sağlık hizmeti sunulabileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Başarılı bir uygulama için bir hekimin hem bilim insanı hem de sanatçı yönünün bulunması önemli olacaktır.

There is controversy as to whether many fields are science or art, more in some disciplines. The presence of both theoretical and practical aspects of medicine, and the fact that the intuition and manual dexterity as well as the experiments, observations and scientific evidence in the practice part are involved in the practice show that the science-art debate is the basis of medicine. The aim of this study is to discuss whether medicine is art or science. As a method, the publications and discussions made up to now have been searched and inferences have been made from these secondary sources of information. When we look at its historical background, it is seen that there are processes in which both the art side and the science side of medicine exist. As a work is an art, it develops its own curiosity and practice, which develops by virtue of its own curiosity, mastery along with a master, and consequently the proper treatment methods that will be put forward in the recovery of people's health. In terms of being a science, it is conceivable that the approaches that emerge based on observations and experiments, the medicines that have undergone scientific processes, medical technology and evidence-based methods are used again for the health of the people. Considering the aspect of medicine that encompasses the whole of life and its different sides, it is concluded that both the art and science aspects can be provided as a result of the study and that a more qualified health service can be provided by completing each other. For a successful practice, it will be important for a physician to find both a scientist and an artist.
